Time Tracking
Effici's time tracking is built for service businesses where time is the primary unit of delivery. Every hour logged flows directly into project P&L and can be invoiced with a single click.
Log time
Manual entry
- Go to Time or open a project and go to the Time tab
- Click Log time
- Select the project (required) and team member
- Enter the date, duration (hours and minutes), and a description
- Mark as Billable or Non-billable
- Save
Using the timer
- Click the Start timer button
- Select the project
- Add a description as you work
- Click Stop when done — the duration is calculated automatically and saved as a time entry
The timer runs in the background. You can switch between projects and the timer continues. Multiple timers can run simultaneously if you're tracking parallel work.
Billable vs. non-billable
Each time entry is marked as billable or non-billable:
- Billable — counts toward invoiceable revenue and appears in invoice proposals
- Non-billable — logged against the project for cost tracking but not invoiced
You can change this status on any entry before it's invoiced.
Time entry descriptions
Good descriptions make time tracking useful for clients and internal reporting. Effici shows descriptions in invoice line items when you bill tracked time, so write them with the client in mind.
Edit and delete entries
Time entries can be edited or deleted at any time before they're invoiced. Once an entry has been included in an invoice, it's locked and cannot be modified.
Viewing logged time
- By project — open a project and go to the Time tab
- By team member — go to Time → By person to see each person's logged hours
- All entries — go to Time → All for a full list with filters by date, project, and person
Export
Time entries can be exported to CSV from the time log view for use in external reporting or payroll systems.
