Invoice Tracked Time

Effici connects time tracking directly to invoicing. Billable hours logged against a project appear automatically as invoice proposals — you review them, confirm, and the invoice is ready to send.

How it works

When you log billable time against a project, Effici tracks it as uninvoiced revenue. When you're ready to bill:

  1. The time entries appear in the Invoice proposals view
  2. You select the entries to include
  3. Effici generates the invoice line items automatically
  4. You review and send

No manual re-entry, no reconciliation between tools.

Invoice from a project

  1. Open the project in Projects
  2. Go to the Time tab
  3. Filter to the period you want to invoice
  4. Select the billable entries you want to include
  5. Click Create invoice from selected
  6. Effici creates a draft invoice with each time entry as a line item

The line item description comes from the time entry description, and the rate comes from the billable rate set for that team member on the project.

Invoice from the proposals view

  1. Go to Finance → Invoice proposals
  2. All uninvoiced billable time across all projects is listed here
  3. Filter by client or project
  4. Select entries and click Create invoice

This view is useful if you bill multiple projects for the same client together on a single invoice.

Line item format

By default, each time entry becomes its own line item. You can also group entries:

  • By person — one line per team member with total hours
  • By day — one line per day with hours worked
  • By task description — entries with the same description are merged

Choose the grouping that makes the most sense for your client relationship.

Fixed-price and time-and-materials

  • Time-and-materials — invoice the actual hours at the billable rate. This is the default.
  • Fixed-price — if the project has a fixed fee, you invoice the order amount regardless of hours. Time is still tracked for internal P&L but doesn't appear on the invoice.

You set this at the project level when creating or editing the project.

Mark time as invoiced

Once time entries are included in an invoice, they're automatically marked as invoiced and removed from the proposals view. If you delete the invoice draft, the entries return to uninvoiced status.
